SP7 Welfare economic valuation

Welfare economic valuation of sustainable rubber production

The objective is the assessment of the social benefits accruing from a government policy aiming at a more sustainable and biodiversity-preserving practice of rubber cultivation in southern Yunnan. These benefits will be assessed for the three main stakeholder groups which are typical for environmental projects or policies: (i) on-site residents, i.e. people living in the main rubber producing region itself, (ii) temporary visitors, i.e. people living outside this region but spend their holidays there and (iii) outside stakeholders, i.e. people who have never visited this region personally but who, nevertheless, appreciate the fact that there exists such a biodiversity hotspot in their country.
